A message to Aggie fans from UC Davis Director of Athletics Rocko DeLuca
UC Davis football crowds show the power of Aggie Pride
By: Rocko DeLuca – Director of Athletics, UC Davis
Something remarkable is happening at UC Davis. In our first two home games of the season, more than 29,000 fans filled UC Davis Health Stadium. A record 17,217 turned out for the opener, followed by another 12,238 the next week—both above the stadium’s official capacity of 10,743.
These weren’t just numbers on a scoreboard. They were moments that brought our campus and community together in ways that remind us why college athletics matter. And yes, both games ended in Aggie victories.
As Director of Athletics, I get to see the impact this support has on our student-athletes. Our players and coaches will tell you the same: the Aggie Pack was louder than ever, and the roar of the crowd gave the team an undeniable lift. That kind of energy can change the course of a game—and it reflects the pride so many of us feel in UC Davis.
What makes these crowds even more meaningful is who makes them up. Families with young children sprinting across Jim Sochor Field during the Halftime Kids Run. Students decked in Blue and Gold, shoulder to shoulder in the student section. Alumni reconnecting with old friends. Neighbors from Davis and Yolo County joining us because they know Game Day here is fun, inclusive and affordable. This is what community looks like.
Now we turn to Homecoming on October 11, when the Aggies host Northern Arizona University in a pivotal Big Sky Conference matchup. The return of Brewfest will add even more excitement, with more than 20 local breweries and food on Bob Biggs Field before kickoff. It’s a chance to celebrate not just football, but everything that makes UC Davis unique.
Game Days like these are more than entertainment—they are expressions of who we are as a university and a community. They connect our current students with alumni, showcase the best of Davis hospitality and create memories that last long after the final whistle.
So here is my invitation: join us.
Buy your tickets early, wear your Aggie Blue and Gold and be part of the record-breaking support that has already defined this season. Visit ucdavisaggies.com/tickets or call the UC Davis Ticket Office at (530) 752-AGS1 (2471) to secure your seats.
When our stands are full, it lifts our athletes, strengthens our community and shows the country what Aggie Pride is all about.
Go Ags!
