Aggie men get statement win over future Mountain West basketball foe Nevada
Nils Cooper leads the way as Aggies take control down the stretch for a 75-71 victory
RENO, Nevada - Nils Cooper had a career night with 26 points and Connor Sevilla sank four straight free throws in the final 10 seconds as UC Davis stunned Nevada, 75-71, in a non-conference men’s basketball game here Tuesday night before a crowd of 6,957 at the Lawlor Events Center.
Coupled with last Friday night’s dramatic 77-73 win over Sacramento State, the Aggies are now 4-1 on the season and have shown an ability to close out close games against quality opponents.
Nevada is now 3-2.
This was the 105th game in a long series that stretches back to the old Far Western Conference where the Aggies and Wolf Pack played each other twice a year. Next season these two will again be in the same conference as the Aggies join Nevada in the Mountain West. Nevada had beaten UCD 15 straight times coming into Tuesday’s game.
