UC Davis takes important home win as difficult road trip awaits
Nils Cooper led the way with 19 points as the UC Davis men took an impressive 74-66 wire-to-wire Big West basketball win from UC Riverside before a crowd of 1,502 Saturday afternoon at the University Credit Union Center.
The win, UCD’s third in four games, moves the Aggies to 5-4 in league play and 12-8 overall with 11 Big West games remaining, seven of them on the road.
Riverside, coached by former Aggie point guard Gus Argenal, is now 2-7 and 7-14.
The Aggies used long-range bombs by Marcus Wilson, Isaiah Chappell and Brayden Fagbemi to storm to a 17-3 lead and it appeared a rout was in order.
A trey by Connor Sevilla gave UCD its biggest lead of the afternoon at 34-17, but Riverside eventually found its footing and cut the deficit to 36-25 at the half.
