MOSCOW, Idaho - Football coaches and players live and die by the expression, “Play them one game at a time.”

They have those words tattooed on their brains from the first day of practice in July until the last scoop of mashed potatoes is devoured at the season-ending team banquet.

What it means, basically, is that you cannot overlook this weekend’s game with the Little Sisters of the Poor just because you’ll be playing the big, bad Buckeyes of Ohio State the next weekend.

You also cannot look back at last weekend’s painful loss and let that opponent beat you twice.

No, you have to concentrate on the task at hand, whether you’re favored to win by six touchdowns or lose by a field goal.

Fans and super boosters, however, are under no such restrictions. They can look at the national rankings and future schedules and speculate all they want. Which may mean some folks wearing the Blue and Gold might be looking a bit east to beautiful Bozeman, Montana, where the No. 2 Montana State Bobcats will be hosting the Aggies next Saturday, November 15, in a game with serious Big Sky championship and FCS playoff considerations on the line.

The task at hand for UC Davis is to get past a talented and resurgent Idaho squad that always seems to bring something extra when playing at home in the historic and spacious Kibbie Dome that University of Idaho students joke appears to look like a giant beer can lying on its side.

UC Davis vs. Idaho

Be that as it may, the unique all-wood structure, now being celebrated on campus for its 50th anniversary, rises 144 feet from floor to ceiling and covers 93,000 square feet, fully 3,000 more square feet than Donald Trump’s planned ballroom.
