Aggies crush Pacific Union in final non-conference game of the season
UC Davis overwhelms NAIA school, 108-52, in men's basketball at the UCUC
While the outcome was predictable, Aggie head men’s basketball coach Jim Les was nevertheless pleased with the effort his team put forward in its final tuneup before heading back into Big West Conference action on New Year’s Day.
Leading from start to finish, UC Davis overwhelmed NAIA school Pacific Union, 108-52, Sunday afternoon before a gathering of 901 at the University Credit Union Center.
“We got a lot of guys into the game playing a number of minutes and that was key,” said Les.
“Everyone has to always be ready because you never know when your name is going to be called.”
The win, UCD’s second straight, gives the Aggies a 7-5 overall mark as they look ahead to hosting Cal State Northridge at 2 p.m. on New Year’s Day, followed by a Saturday, Jan. 3, 2 p.m. home game against Cal State Bakersfield.
The Aggies are 0-1 in Big West play after opening with a 75-69 loss at Hawaii in early December.
Northridge will bring an 8-6 overall mark, including 1-1 in league play, into the New Year’s Day game.
