Aggies crush Rhode Island, will host Illinois State in FCS quarterfinal on Saturday

It took a while to figure things out, but after they did, the UC Davis Aggies overwhelmed the Rhode Island Rams, 47-26 in a second-round FCS playoff game before a chilled-to-the-bone crowd of 8,525 Saturday night at UC Davis Health Stadium.
The win, combined with Illinois State’s stunning 29-28 upset of defending champion and No. 1 seed North Dakota State, means the Aggies will host the Redbirds this coming Saturday at 2 p.m.
North Dakota State entered that game as a 23-point favorite after having been rarely challenged in a 12-0 regular season.
It was assumed that if UCD took care of business against Rhode Island that they would be traveling to Fargo to tangle with the Bison. Instead, they get another home game.
“I will not miss going to Fargo,” said Aggie head coach Tim Plough with a broad smile.
