Is this the final Causeway Classic ever?

When Sacramento State travels across the Causeway Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff with No. 15 UC Davis, it will mark the 72nd game in an annual rivalry that began in 1954. With a 14-0 Aggie win, by the way.
The teams did meet twice in 1988, once during the regular season and once during the NCAA Division II playoffs. Sacramento won both games that year.
I attended that first Causeway Classic with my dad in 1954, three years after our family moved to Davis and fell in love with a Blue and Gold team known then as the California Aggies. I haven’t missed a Causeway since.
It’s a game that’s great for the players, great for the fans and great for the communities involved.
