Aggies run past UC Santa Barbara, 72-50, in Big West women's basketball
UCD never trails in taking second straight conference road win
ISLA VISTA - UC Davis led from wire to wire to overwhelm UC Santa Barbara, 72-50, in a Big West women's basketball game Saturday afternoon before a crowd of 450 in the Thunderdome on the UCSB campus.
Sydney Burns buried a 3-pointer in the opening 30 seconds and the Aggies never slowed down, using a 9-0 run to take a 22-8 advantage at the end of the quarter.
Tova Sabel opened the second period with a trey, then she and Megan Norris each had a bucket to push the count to 29-8 and there was little doubt about the outcome after that.
UCD is now 2-0 in Big West play, with both wins on the road, and is 5-4 overall. UCSB is 1-1 and 6-4.
As she has frequently this year, Sabel led the Aggies with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Burns added eight points. Norris had nine rebounds to go with her nine points and Nya Epps had nine points and a team-high five assists.
The Aggies will take a week off for final exams, then come home Dec. 15 for a 2 p.m. non-conference battle with Arizona State.
