Boise State snaps UCD women's early-season win streak at three games
Broncos pull away in the second half for a 91-77 win
BOISE, Idaho - Boise State broke open a tight non-conference women’s basketball game with a strong third quarter and went on to take a 91-77 win from UC Davis here Friday night before an enthusiastic crowd of 1,645 in the ExtraMile Arena.
The game was tied three times and the lead changed hands nine times in the opening half, but the Broncos put together a 29-22 spurt in the third quarter to take a 70-56 advantage and never looked back.
The Aggies had their three-game win streak to open the season broken, while Boise is now 3-0.
The Broncos led 18-17 after a tightly contested first quarter and expanded that to 41-34 at the half.
Avery Sussex had a career night for the Aggies with 23 points, including 5 of 7 from long range.
Ryann Bennett and Nya Epps each had 15 points and Emmy Ersdala added 10.
Megan Norris contributed eight rebounds and three steals.
The Aggies simply could not contain the 1-2 punch of Dani Bayes and Tatum Thompson, who had 31 and 26 points, respectively. Thompson dominated the boards all night to finish with 14 rebounds.
UCD will be back in action at Stanford next Thursday at 7 p.m.
