Davis is nearly perfect, but we dearly need an Official City Flag
Believe it or not, there are rules for city flags and ignoring them is not advised
I can't remember where, maybe Facebook or Untruth Social, but someone was arguing that the City of Davis needs an Official City Flag.
In my mind, there are a ton of things our city needs, like repaving H Street from E. 8th to the Davis Little League Park, but if an Official City Flag can get us a few steps closer in that direction, I'm all for it.
Having lived in this town since shortly after Davisville became simply Davis, I have a few ideas about what we should put on this flag, but whatever we come up with, in The Davis Way, it should go to a citywide vote of the people.
Call it Measure F for Flag.
The original posting about this topic included a link to a flag-oriented Ted Talk by the highly entertaining Roman Mars, who walked his audience through examples of good city flags and bad city flags, including five basic rules to put us all on the right path if we ever decide to get serious about this in the City of All Things Right and Relevant.
These rules are based on the assumption that every great city deserves to have a great flag, a banner for citizens to rally under as they attempt to do great things.
