Great nostalgia, Bob. I have certainly been aware of Denise’s Davis background and history but it was wonderful to be reminded about her groundbreaking career. And I agree: bring back the DHS HOF induction ceremonies!
You know all about Hall of Fame inductions, Ro, having been honored yourself a few years ago for all your great work at a nearby high school. A Hall of Fame can be a great way to help the past meet the present.
Les Curry was also a great neighbor. We moved to a new housing development in Yuba City. When they started building the house next door we noticed a couple that had stopped to look. We went out to say hello. I couldn't believe my luck when it turned out my driver ed teacher and favorite basketball coach was going to be my neighbor next door. I miss him.
It was a ton of work for a very small and dedicated committee and the ceremony was so professionally done, with a video of each recipient and beautiful photography and a wonderful and joyous dinner celebration.
Bob, thanks for reigniting the old memories. They came flooding back reading this. Dennise Curry was the Caitilin Clark of that time.
You're right, Frank. No one was close to Denise's talent and drive. She made the most of the gifts she had been given. Always admired her.

Yes, I remember that move to Yuba City. You were a lucky guy,Mike.
Bob, a lot of your writing should be added to Denise Curry’s Wikipedia page. It doesn’t cover her high school days at all.
True. Obviously, the UCLA days and the Olympics are wonderful parts of Denise's story, but her days as a Blue Devil were absolutely off the chart.
This year’s UCLA National Championship team should earn a trip to visit Denise Curry.
And Davis would be an ideal place for that visit.
I wondered why they stopped naming anyone to the Hall of Fame. I agree, Bob, bring it back!

Nice to hear her name ring around the basketball hoop as we celebrate UCLA.
Thanks for sharing all her statistics and shining a light on her phenomenal records
I was blessed and fortunate to play basketball with Denise at Davis Senior High School.
Her father was my basketball coach at one time, and by the time I played under Fleming, Denise was a friend and mentor when she left to UCLA.
GO LADY BRUINS 2026.🎉
Great memories, Myrna.
Weren't you lucky to be a part of those days.
And the whole Curry family was made of remarkable human beings. Very good people and an example to all of us.
