Occasionally I come across a headline so bizarre that I think it must be one of those spoofs that pops out on April Fool’s Day. Or maybe as an offshoot of a Saturday Night Live skit.

As we have all painfully learned, the explosion of social media has left us wondering what news we can trust and what is so totally outrageous that it can’t possibly be true. Like Marjorie Taylor Greene formally filing for divorce from Donald Trump. Does anyone actually expect us to believe such nonsense?

Or Kristi Noem being “promoted” to Ambassador to Nome, where the natives love the dogs that pull their sleds through the ice and snow. Better not shoot one of those dogs, Kristi,

I do subscribe to a number of so-called “mainstream” newspapers and generally read them cover to cover.

However, I did drop The Washington Post when it became the Bezos Bulletin and gutted its formerly great Opinion section. And I dropped The Los Angeles Times when that formerly great newspaper declined to endorse anyone for president.

But I do still take The Bee, The New York Times, The Mercury News, The Oregonian and the Seattle Times, among others. We idle rich on the Eastside of town do have to have something to keep us engaged.

Be that as it may, I came across a headline the other day that I honestly had trouble believing.

“High Hamburger Prices?” it asked. “The White House Blames Biden and Migrants.”

Yes, hamburger prices are high, along with just about every cut of beef known to man.
