The Wary One

The Wary One

From sea to Sierra, California's 52 Congressional districts are a mapmakers' nightmare

And remember, according to the Official Voter Information Guide, it is illegal to vote illegally

Drawing the map of Congressional districts, whether done by an “independent commission” or greedy politicians trying to steal seats from the voters, is tricky business.

At the moment I’m looking at a detailed map of all the districts in California. You can follow along with me at home on Page 10 of our 32-page Official Voter Information Guide, six copies of which arrived in our East Davis mailbox several weeks ago.

As if we are a family that doesn’t share.

Wow, 32 pages and only one thing on the ballot. Makes me wonder how many trees in the sacred Sierra Nevada gave their lives to further this endeavor?

Do I really need to be told that it’s against the law to “vote illegally.”?

Or how to get my voting rights restored if I have a “Prior Felony Conviction.” I mean, aren’t all felony convictions “prior”?

Note, this map of California’s 52 Congressional districts was sketched by our saintly independent commission, which will be put on the bathroom shelf for the next five years if Prop 50 passes.
