Glad you're in good hands and things seem to be progressing well. I've had upper front bridges because of genetically missing teeth and am doing my best to keep them going. Implants would not be my next step of choice.

I didn't "choose" it either, but it went very smoothly and I'm immensely satisfied.

Did not cure my sore left knee, however.

Pt and cortisone shots, and then knee replacement in your future.🤪

What, they replace my left knee with my right knee and I'm supposed to crawl along like a 3-legged dog?

I'm so glad that such a great doctor has arrived in Davis. I had a tooth implant done in about 1994 by a great dentist whose name I can't remember! It was an easier process then. And it remains my favorite tooth! Never hurts! On the other hand, I had a periodontal appointment with the worst dentist I've ever seen in Davis (can't remember the name) and he had an argument with the dental assistant, yelling at her in mid-procedure! I did not feel safe! Never again there! Glad someone good has arrived there!

Hahaha if it was a perio appointment in the 1990s, then I have a pretty good idea who it was. There were pretty much only two in town, and Bob name-dropped the other.

I have a pretty good idea, too, Mark.

He was one of the best.

This is quite ann endorsement, Bob, and one we all appreciate (it’s why we love The Wary One). A person can never have enough recommendations “in their pocket” for any of the “D” services.

I’ve also had a very good experience with a dental implant, taking months to complete.

What’s vexing is, what-in-the-wide-world-of-sports is happening with the complete mouth replacement implants “All-on-4, done in a day.”😳. That’s reminiscent of a Gunsmoke episode when the snake oil salesmen pulled his wagon into town…🤪

Thank you for your kind words Bob. I was blessed to raise my family in Davis and have a periodontal and implant practice here for 25 years for treating some of the finest people I’ve ever met.

Dr. Du was my resident when I volunteered on my days off teaching at UCSF and I knew he would be the right fit for Davis when I brought him into my practice. So glad everything has worked out so well.

Enjoy that well-deserved steak buddy!

Dave - Your practice set the gold standard for care and now Dr. Du has carried it on. You certainly made the right choice.

Thanks for treating me and so many others so well for all those years. Your legacy lives on.

A retired dentist once told me, that as we age our primary enjoyment in life is most likely eating. Then he commented that there are older patients that drive a very expensive car like a rolls royce but don’t want to spend the money on an implant. I think that dentist enjoyed his steaks too!

Thanks Martin.

That is a great - and true - story.

"The upside, of course, is that you’re pretty much required to ingest nothing but chocolate milkshakes for a day or two after dental surgery." So true. I had perio work done with Dr. Jolkovksy about 30 years ago, then had some complications that prevented me from eating any solid food (not his fault, I swallowed an Aleve tablet without washing it down, and it got stuck in my esophagus).

The upside was that I had only protein shakes, smoothies and yogurt for about two weeks. Best shape I'd ever been in.

Welcome to Dr. Du... I'm sure my dad would have been glad to meet and greet him to the Davis dentist community.

Your dad, Wes Honbo, was a superstar, Mark. Not a bad tennis player either. I remember drawing him in the first round of the City Tennis Tournament and he presented me with a giant Sugar Daddy at midcourt before the match. The crowd loved it, especially coming from a prominent dentist.

Your experience with Dr. Du matches mine, or should I say my experience matches yours. Hmm.

How many people remember Dr. Pence? We called him "The Butcher" My memories were everyone was scheduled at 9:00 AM and Dr. Pence took volunteers. It did not take me long to figure out after listening to the moans, groans and screams to get in and out as quick as possible.
