Cody Hawkins got used to winning football games at UC Davis Health Stadium when he served as an Aggie assistant under his dad, former UC Davis head football coach Dan Hawkins.

On his first visit to his former stadium as head coach at Idaho State, Cody Hawkins experienced victory once again, this time in dramatic fashion.

His upstart Bengals, who entered the game with a three-game losing streak and a 2-6 overall record, used a 50-yard field goal from Trajan Sinatra with 50 seconds remaining to upset No. 6 UC Davis, 38-36, Saturday afternoon before a crowd of 10,973 on a beautiful day for football - especially if you are an Idaho State fan.

The loss ended an impressive five-game UCD win streak and drops the Aggies to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the Big Sky Conference with three games remaining in the regular season.

“We’re obviously super disappointed,” said Aggie head coach Tim Plough.
