Long-range barrage carries Aggie women to easy victory over Milwaukee in non-conference basketball at UOP
UC Davis win streak is now at three games as Aggies head into Big West opener against Hawaii Dec. 4
STOCKTON - It was raining three-pointers here Saturday afternoon as UC Davis made the majority of its shots from long range to overwhelm Milwaukee, 81-72, in non-conference women’s basketball action.
The win in the second and final UCD game of the Tiger Turkey Tip-off at the Alex G. Spanos center on the University of the Pacific campus gives the Aggies a 6-2 overall mark, while Milwaukee dropped to 2-7.
The win was UCD’s third straight, a streak that includes a 69-59 win over Jacksonville State in the Tip-off opener on Friday.
This one was never close, as Avery Sussex opened the scoring with a trey and the Aggies were on their way to yet another convincing win.
UCD hit a remarkable eight three-pointers in the opening quarter, going 8 of 12 from long range and only attempting three “regular” field goals during the first 10 minutes.
The Aggies led 26-11 at the quarter, 41-30 at the half and 67-49 after three quarters, one time pushing their advantage to 20 points.
UCD finished with a season-high 16 treys on 30 attempts (53.3 percent), eclipsing the previous mark of 13 against Weber State.
UCD was also nearly perfect from the foul line with 11 hits in 12 tries.
Eight different Aggies hit from outside the arc during the rout.
Ryann Bennett led the way with 19 points and seven assists, with Megan Norris dominating inside with 17 points and 15 rebounds.
Nya Epps added 10 points, three assists and three steals.
UC Davis will now carry its win streak into the Big West season opener Dec. 4 against Hawaii, with a 6 p.m. start at the University Credit Union Center.
