Parking at UC Davis: buyer beware

Careful when and where you park on campus or Gunrock will have a word with you

I have in front of me a parking ticket issued by my alma mater, the University of California at Davis, formerly and nostalgically known as The University Farm.

I realize the need for parking enforcement on a crowded university campus such as UC Davis.

Otherwise, the early birds will get every available spot and park there all day long if they’d like. Maybe all week. Or even many months as they summer in Paris.

I also recognize the need, at times, for paid parking, though as the price rises, it does have the unwanted effect of separating the haves from the have-nots.

I have nothing but respect for the folks who ride around in tiny cars or converted golf carts to put citations under the windshield wipers of those who have intentionally or inadvertently broken the rules.
