Caden Pinnick may be a redshirt freshman, but he’s playing more like a fifth-year senior.

The UC Davis quarterback, in only his sixth start as an Aggie, threw for three touchdowns and rushed for one more to lead UCD to a hard-fought 34-27 Big Sky Conference win over Cal Poly before a crowd of 10,006 Saturday night in Mustang Memorial Stadium.

“Caden Pinnick really grew up tonight,” said Aggie head coach Tim Plough.

“This was his best game so far.”

That’s a strong statement given that Pinnick has already in previous weeks been named as the national FCS Offensive Freshman of the Week and the Big Sky’s Offensive Player of the Week.
