Actually, there are no uses for the lowly semicolon
One of the joys of being on Substack is that readers are able to respond quickly and thoroughly without any of the silly rules that so many newspapers have about letters to the editor.
I don’t have a word limit and I do not censor, though I do have two rules: No F-bombs and no exclamation points.
Okay, out of respect for the First Amendment, I will allow the occasional exclamation point, but remember, if your words don’t exclaim something all by themselves, no amount of punctuation can save them.
