Patsy (my classmate) is very cute 70 years later. I drove her past the Dunning estate of auld so she could point out "her room" after our 75th DHS Birthday celebration.
Absolutely brilliant column with an incredible load of Davis trivia. For the record, I got 98% on the exam. If requested, I will download the Scantron test form.
Come ON ... you had to dig pretty deep to (try to) stump us with, "The Lewis and Clark Expedition paddled along Putah Creek on their way to rescue the Donner Party." It proves that Bob Dunning is still quick-of-mind to make sure a dull silence doesn't remain silent for long. For the hard of hearing, Our Bob is also quick to "photo-bomb". Here's to those pearly whites and Mousie's.
Fact-checking here: the bear cub caught on campus and released in Colusa County (#30) was a BLACK bear, even if it may have been brown. (Great column, btw.)
What a brilliant display of mostly useless, but fun, trivia. NPR did a wonderful April Fool's' gag a a few years ago. They interviewed a donor who claimed to be giving large sums to composers who would re-write the sad endings of the most popular operas. (Mimi survives her final illness and lives happily ever after. Like that.) NPR was flooded with irate phone calls. Only then did they fess up that it was a gag. On April Fool's'.
There was a house on the southwest corner with a camp kind of hidden behind it. Dad would take me out there for Mass on Sunday night so I could meet and appreciate the people who were harvesting our food. I feel very lucky for that experience that has helped shape my thinking to this very day.
feel the Bern 🔥 🐻

yes my aunt patsy is very cute i spent easter with her
Was so much fun to write and remember, Erin
King High School was established in 1976 on the site where Jerry Garcia faced off against Eddie Van Halen in a guitar solo duel.
No apostrophe is needed in April Fools. It’s a verb, not a noun. A plural verb. Right?
1976 the best year ever 🤘🏽
Bicentennial babies were born that year.
What a great Jerry Garcia-Eddie Van Halen story. Much bigger than trivia.

You can move to the head of the class. Miss Montgomery would be proud of you.
Hilarious … I remember #95 as I was at the game and remember your Mom giving me the scoop at health center
Quite the game. Stange things happened at The Toom
Wow, that is quite the quiz! So many great factoids
All factoids, Jesse, and a few falsehoods.
Thanks for reading it. I was sure fun to put together.

Once again, you brought laughter through your fun challenges and creative April Fools columns - you are the Best Bob!
You are much too kind.
Was certainly a fun one to write.
Brought back so many memories for me.

That's why that one fell in the False category on two counts.

And then there was that Martian invasion on the radio that caused all sorts of traffic jams, but I don't know it that was even April 1
So on #62....Denise Curry didn't play basketball at DHS?
Denise was the very best at her sport - perhaps in the world.
I don't have enough fingers and toes to count how many sports Ralph was good at.
I think maybe we should arrange a one-on-one basketball game between these two Blue Devil superstars.
I was a senior, playing a lot of hoops, and thinking about trying out for the DHS boys basketball team.
Denise was a sophomore.
At lunch one day, I agreed to play her one-on-one.
I think we played to 20 buckets
After being whupped, I asked for a second game.
I may have scored 7.
She was good!
(And a great person.)
All-American. Olympic Gold Medal winner. Awesome person from an awesome family
Bob, I never ever thought you would print FAKE NEWS! 😆
Thanks for the chuckles and Happy April Fools’ Day!
I wonder if Fox News will offer me a job, Carolee
Ha ha! Fake Fox!
Great read, over coffee this morning, Bob. 102 T/F questions conjuring nearly 100 smart-Alec “thought replies.”🤣👍🏼💯
For my one vote, there’s no apostrophe…this is simply a day full of fools 🤡
Including one who will address the nation tonight, Bill
I loved this column, Bob. Keep up your great humor, because we really need it these days.
So glad t have an audience of folks like you to read it, Jan
Thanks so much
Great questions that must have taken you hours! If #93 is true, was that before or after the SAE house?
I'm thinking mid-1950s, Catherine.
There was a house on the southwest corner with a camp kind of hidden behind it. Dad would take me out there for Mass on Sunday night so I could meet and appreciate the people who were harvesting our food. I feel very lucky for that experience that has helped shape my thinking to this very day.
Your Dad taught you valuable lessons. The SAE fraternity house was there in the late 60s and into the 70s before it moved to Russell Blvd.
