What percent of the vote is necessary before a candidate can truly claim a "mandate"?

The raw numbers suggest that Donald Trump falls far sort of enjoying the "Will of the People."

Over and over again I've been hearing from the ruling party in our country that all the things Donald Trump is putting into place - or breaking into tiny pieces - is simply carrying out the "Will of the People."

Even Democrats are shrugging their shoulders and ruefully mouthing that tired old phrase "elections have consequences."

Under our system of government, Donald Trump was, without a doubt, elected president of the United States. Fair and square, no questions asked.

Most importantly, he easily won the Electoral College vote, 312-226, when all he needed was 270.
