I always say it's never too early for the college football season. Especially when we're talking about our local heroes, the UC Davis Aggies.
The big news today is the Way-Too-Early preseason national rankings for FCS football.
The FCS is the division where the Aggies play, just below the FBS, where the bigger dogs like Cal and Stanford compete.
The FCS stands for Football Championship Subdivision, while the FBS is the Football Bowl Subdivision.
Those designations have become outdated and essentially meaningless since both divisions now have a national championship at season's end, featuring 24 teams in the FCS and 12 teams in the FBS.
But that's a topic for another day.
