Would the Prop 50 outcome have been any different if billionaires on both sides had simply elected to sit this one out?
Will Munger's millions turn the tide and take Prop 50 down to defeat?
If you’re curious, the California Secretary of State - Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D. - has compiled a list of top contributors on both sides of the Prop 50 ballot proposition.
That’s all well and good, but I want to be sure that Dr. Weber’s Ph.D. is in mathematics before I believe some of the sky-high numbers she is reporting.
The “Yes” on gerrymandering the Golden State side has raised a whopping $44,458,159.20 and they’re still trying to find the guy who contributed the 20 cents since his contribution may well represent a higher percentage of his disposable income than that of the many other donors.
The “No” side, which wants us to ignore the egregious gerrymandering in Texas that started this unholy war, has raised $41,133,274.01, even though President Trump has ordered the penny out of existence because his tariffs have raised so much cash that pennies are now irrelevant.
A penny for your thoughts will now cost a nickel.
