I thoroughly enjoy your articles about your life and family and the stories are just absolutely wonderful. And they’re very entertaining and well written and full of unexpected surprises. Thank you very much for reminding us how wonderful life is.
Great story, Bob. And Eric Heiden! I remember him well. Just looked him up; he and his wife, also an orthopedic surgeon, run their own specialty clinic in Utah. I guess if you’re still into winter sports it’s a good place to live. I had a torn rotator cuff about 35 years ago, a result of doing something stupid, but not as impressive as winning for the third time at Wimbledon. The orthopedist was talking surgery but then volunteered it wasn’t really bad and maybe I should try massage first. I did. Found a specialist who practiced pressure point release therapy. She spent most of a year relaxing the small muscles around the tear, and it worked. No surgery, but I have to admit that if I do something stupid (again) it still hurts.
I liked your article about an unexpected visit with a champion skater who became your shoulder savior. I need a shoulder expert right now as I am experiencing the same symptoms you have The pain is no doubt my own fault having quit my exercises after a shoulder replacement. If you can go to the doctor for a solution, I can too. Thanks for giving me the courage to face my fears and embarrassment. A few nights of good sleep sounds delightful. The appointment will be made on Monday. Happy Valentines Day
Wow that is an amazing story. From magazine to a face to face encounter. I have only met two famous people in my life Bob Dunning and some sports guy Reggie Jackson.
Some guy playing for the Oakland A's back in 1972. I was at a custom van show at the Cow Palace in Brisbane. A Playboy playmate from Sacramento (Nikki Garcia?) had a huge line in front of her but Reggie was free. Chatted with him for 30 minutes. I walked away and thought should of had him sign a baseball he might be famous someday.
Love it. Some people would see your sudden interest in reading about Winter Olympics and Eric Heiden as Dioscidence, rather than coincidence. Some things we do may be more than a coincidence.

Very kind words, Holly.
Thank you so much
Maybe Disney is right: It's a small world after all.
Indeed it is, Michael
What a nice column! Thanks for making us smile 😊.
Thanks Andre. Much appreciated.
What a great piece!!!
Thanks so much, Mr. Pulitzer
Seriously, though. Fantastic story well-told.
That’s now Herr Pulitzer.
Imagine who you'd meet if you had something serious!
Probably Jesus himself, Joe

Just saw Eric Heiden's picture in The New York Times, watching the speed skating in Italy
He was born in Madison, WI and trained there and attended UW taking a break to win a bunch of medals then moved to California. Hometown hero!
Yes, indeed.
He made Wisconsin proud.
I believe he's in Park City, Utah now
Wonderful story, enjoyed it very much. Always love your style and wit!
Thanks so much, Valerie.
What a lucky time to have a sore shoulder
Good Morning Bob,
I liked your article about an unexpected visit with a champion skater who became your shoulder savior. I need a shoulder expert right now as I am experiencing the same symptoms you have The pain is no doubt my own fault having quit my exercises after a shoulder replacement. That is so wonderful, Jacqueline.
Prayers for a tremendous outcome

You're making me smile, Bobby.
Reggie who?

Mr. October
Another great story, Bob. And what a great coincidence!
Thanks so much, Jan

I think you're right, Donna
Great story!
Thanks a million, Andy
Was a treat to meet Eric
What an awesome story! The Bob-o-verse is truly huge! Btw, a good shoulder doc is priceless.
Don't stop doing those exercises! Swimming and water polo wrecked mine
And here I thought swimming was supposed to be good for you. Other than the water is always too cold
Swimming is good for you - all things in moderation!
...and sometimes that "nobody" you grew up with becomes famous.
Sometimes indeed, Sherri
Great story!
Much appreciated, Mike
