Great memories…I thought we were going to read a version of The Mighty Keylor striking out…this was even better (“Keylor smiled as the ball arrived, mouthed the words “thank you” and blasted the ball halfway to Dixon.”). That’s “gold,” Bob. Happy 4th of July.

Wonderful memories, Bob. This brought back memories of my own. My brother, a slugger baseball player, once hit three back to back grand slam home runs in one game for his high school team, in North Carolina. It made national news , and he kept clippings from the newspapers pasted to his bedroom wall for years, until our dad insisted the room had to be repainted. Happy Fourth!

I remember the annual parade arranged by the Kiwanis. We’d get up in a panic and try to decorate our bikes before riding downtown to show up and join the parade. At the end of the parade, participants each received a silver dollar from a big jar. In more recent times, my son’s Boy Scout troop lead the parade. We really need to bring this annual event back.

Brought back memories but i do have a question. The game u highlite was the annual 4th of. July game during my Childhood when i played l/l and my son also. There was a traveling team and 2 4th of July teams playing a single game. I went by the park on the 4th several times and no 4th of July game. What happened to it?
